Your Donations at Work

Early last year, we changed our fundraising approach. We implemented Caz Cares, a fund supported by donations that helps our residents in important ways. Ever since, we’ve been putting your donations to work, and it’s been a resounding success.

What We’ve Accomplished Together

Thanks to Caz Cares funding, Casa Di Vita converted a bedroom into a new meditation room in the spring of this year. Many of the women in the program struggle with anxiety, and this room gives them a quiet place to relax, breathe, and center themselves. During the renovation, resident feedback was incorporated into all of the design decisions for the room. From the wall color to the pillows to the placement of the furniture, residents were involved every step of the way.

Meanwhile, Turning Point House used funds to create a memorial bench in honor of a sober support the program sadly lost. Residents chipped in with this activity, too. They collaborated with the local self-help community in Eden to build the bench, and it was painted with meaningful colors from the sober support’s life.

Previously, we’ve explained how important exercise can be to someone’s recovery. In recognition of this, each of our programs purchased equipment that promoted health and wellness. This included weight benches, treadmills, yoga mats, punching bags with gloves, yoga classes, and more.

Casa Di Vita also built outdoor garden beds that were funded by Caz Cares. Residents grew greens, peppers, tomatoes, and more this summer. We used funds to establish a clothing closet at Cazenovia Manor, too.

Lastly, one of the main hopes for this new fundraising approach was to create a fund that could benefit individual residents if they had a pressing need. This has worked incredibly well, as we’ve helped residents with deposits for apartments after they’ve discharged.

How to Help

These donations have made a major difference for both our agency and our residents. State funding for substance use programs has been limited historically, and donations have allowed us to do things we’ve never been able to do before.

As you can see, none of this would have been possible without the generous support of our donors. And we’re not done yet! We’ve got some exciting plans for the future and our staff are always looking for fun and innovative ideas to bring into our programs.

Donating is easy, and we have a few ways you can do so. The easiest to visit our donation page at www.cazenoviarecovery.org/donate-now. Alternatively, you can mail a check to 2671 Main St., Attn: Caz Cares, Buffalo, NY 14214.

Any amount will make a major difference in the lives of people with substance use disorders.
