New Recovery Day Logo
Posted on: July 18, 2014
We have recently redesigned our Recovery Day logo, so expect to see it out in the community soon! We’ve also created a new catch phrase to help promote the event, which is: “Celebrate, Educate, Appreciate.”
Recovery Day hopes to bring together nearly 1,000 people from all over Western New York to celebrate the positive results of effective treatment for those in recovery from substance abuse. Despite being recognized as a disease by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), substance abuse still carries a daunting stigma that causes many people to hide their recovery accomplishments. Recovery Day looks to remove this shame by treating recovery from substance abuse just like recovery from cancer: individuals in recovery – and the community at large – should celebrate and be proud of their efforts.
The event also seeks to educate the community about substance abuse recovery. Our residents and former clients are your neighbors and friends. They hold jobs, continue their education, and contribute to our community through volunteering and other efforts.
Finally, Recovery Day gives individuals in recovery a chance to appreciate how far they’ve come in a public, celebratory setting.
Recovery Day will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 11AM to 3PM at McCarthy Park in Buffalo, NY. We hope to see you there!
