#GivingTuesday
Posted on: November 6, 2014
We are incredibly excited to be a part of #GivingTuesday.
To make a long story short, #GivingTuesday is Tuesday, December 2, and it comes after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It hopes to change the focus of the holiday season from one about consumption to one about giving. So we’re joining in and giving back!
As a critical component to the recovery community in Buffalo, we have assisted countless individuals in recovery from substance use, mental illness, and homelessness. Our programs include highly-structured community residences that help people in recovery from substance use pursue educational, vocational, and employment opportunities. We also offer more independent housing and supportive living programs that place homeless individuals into apartments throughout the Buffalo area.
But we don’t just provide residential services. We’re looking to change the way recovery is perceived nationwide. In honor of National Recovery Month, we started Recovery Day, an event that gives those in recovery a chance to celebrate in public and hopes to break the stigma attached to drug and alcohol recovery.
We see #GivingTuesday as a great way to give back to the community. In fact, some of our residents and staff will be volunteering throughout Buffalo to contribute to #GivingTuesday. We’re also looking for donations to help us in our mission.
