Madonna House
Caz Recovery's Madonna House, which serves up to 16 women in recovery tucked away in the serene woods of Lockport, NY, recently had a month long smoking cessation group project lead by Program Manager Lisa Johnston.
All the members of the house were broken up into 4-5 person teams, and each team picked a different topic when it came to the effects of nicotine and smoking. Some topics included "Chemicals in Cigarettes and Vapes," "Prenatal Smoking," "Signs and Symptoms of Lung Cancer," and more.
"Each week they got together, they did research, they discussed how they were going to present, and then at the end they presented to the entire house," Lisa explained.
At the end of each presentation, the rest of the residents were able to ask questions about the topic presented.
"They were able to learn a lot themselves, and then share that information with the other residents," Lisa added.
