The Power of Language

Over the last couple of years, we’ve been hard at work trying to change the conversation around substance use. By changing the language we use, we can help to reduce the stigma associated with the disorder.
Recently, Ed Cichon, our Director of Marketing and Communications, was featured on Room 9’s podcast to talk about the power of language. You can listen to the podcast to hear the conversation.
Simple suggestions like using “person with a substance use disorder” instead of “addict” and “substance free” instead of “clean” can go a long way towards changing public perception. The little steps can make the biggest difference.
